In a great many Indian homes, a match is discussed twice: once in terms of family, education and work, and once in terms of the horoscope. Sites that treat the second conversation as an embarrassment end up being used with a separate WhatsApp thread open alongside. We would rather it were in one place.
What the feature is
Members can record their birth details and horoscope information on their profile, and share a jathakam with a specific family through a private link rather than by publishing it to everyone. The link is the point: birth details are personal, and a family usually wants to show them to one household at a time, not to every visitor.
The feature is offered to Hindu members, because that is whose practice it is. The site does not surface it to everyone else as though it were universal.
What it does not do
It is worth being blunt about this in both directions. A high number is not a reason to skip the ordinary questions about work, family and temperament. A low one is not a reason to refuse someone your family otherwise liked. The feature exists to save a step, not to make the decision.
Practical notes
- Enter the birth time as precisely as you have it. An approximate time produces an approximate chart, and everyone downstream inherits the error.
- Share the jathakam only when a conversation is genuinely progressing. There is no reason for it to travel further than that.
- Rashi and nakshatra fields are optional. Leaving them blank does not weaken a profile with families who do not use them.
And if none of this is part of how your family does things — that is entirely fine. Nothing on the site requires it.
