Planning

The checklist, the calendar and the guest list

A shared workspace for the months before the wedding — what still needs doing, what is happening when, and who is coming. In the same place as the invitation, so the guest list is not typed twice.

Most wedding planning in India happens across a WhatsApp group, three notebooks and somebody's phone gallery. That works, up to the point where two people book the same afternoon or the guest list exists in four versions and none of them is current.

This is a modest fix for that: one place for the checklist, the calendar of functions and the guest list — attached to the invitation, so the people you invite and the people you count are the same list rather than two lists that have to be reconciled.

  • A checklist that starts filled in

The tasks an Indian wedding actually involves, ready to tick, add to or delete. Better than a blank page and less bossy than a template that insists on a rehearsal dinner.

  • A calendar of functions

Every event with its date, time and venue, in one view — the same set of functions the invitation renders, so the two can never disagree.

  • One guest list

Add guests once. The list drives the invitation, collects the RSVPs and gives you the headcount, instead of living in a spreadsheet somebody has to re-send.

  • The invitation in the same place

The design, the details and the link all sit in the same workspace, so changing a venue changes it everywhere at once.

  • A countdown, quietly

Days to the muhurtham, on the workspace and on the invitation. Motivating or alarming, depending on the month.

  • Shared with the family

Invite whoever is helping. Weddings in India are not planned by two people, and a planner that assumes they are is not describing your wedding.

How to start

  1. Create a wedding — names and a date is enough to begin.
  2. Add your functions as you settle them. Nothing has to be final.
  3. Work through the checklist and add whatever is specific to your family.
  4. Build the guest list as the invitations are decided.
  5. Choose an invitation design and fill it in from details you have already entered.
  6. Publish when you are ready, and let the RSVPs come back into the same guest list.

Questions

What does the planner cost?
The checklist, calendar and guest list are free. The ₹499 payment is for publishing the invitation without a watermark, not for planning.
Can my family use it too?
Yes. You can invite others into the workspace — which is the normal case, since Indian weddings are rarely planned by the couple alone.
Do I have to use the invitation to use the planner?
No, though they are designed to work together: the functions you enter once appear on both, and the guest list feeds the RSVP.
Can I export my guest list?
Yes. It is your list.
