Paid matrimony plans in India generally run from a few hundred rupees for a limited entry tier to several thousand for multi-month plans with large contact allowances. The headline figure is rarely the whole cost, because contact limits, ID verification and call minutes are usually priced separately. This guide explains the parts so you can compare two quotes that are not describing the same thing.
The four things you are actually paying for
Nearly every Indian matrimony site charges for some combination of the same four things. Once you can name them, two "₹999 plans" stop looking comparable.
| What | What it means | How it is usually sold |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Your account works and you can browse and be found | Monthly, or bundled into a one-time fee |
| Contacts | Seeing a phone number, or being able to message | A fixed allowance, sometimes per month |
| Assurance | ID verification, badges, background checks | One-time add-on, per check |
| Communication | In-app audio and video calls | Included, or per minute from a wallet |
Sites that bundle all four into one number are easier to compare against each other and harder to compare against sites that unbundle. Neither approach is dishonest; you just have to do the arithmetic for your own usage.
The pricing shapes you will meet
- Free tier with paid contact — register and browse for nothing, pay to see a phone number or send a message. Almost universal.
- Time-boxed plans — three, six or twelve months, with a contact allowance attached. The default on the large national sites.
- One-time registration — a single payment that opens the account and includes a fixed number of contacts, with optional renewal afterwards.
- Assisted or elite tiers — a human relationship manager, priced in the tens of thousands. A different product, and worth being clear that it is one.
For a family that expects to contact ten or fifteen people over a couple of months, the one-time and free-plus-contact shapes usually cost less. For a search that will run a year and involve dozens of conversations, a longer plan usually wins. The break-even is a real calculation and it is worth spending ten minutes on.
What it costs here, stated in full
Every price marriageproposal.in charges, GST included. There are no other fees, and there is no auto-renewal.
| Item | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Profile creation | Free | Create a profile, browse, and be found |
| Registration | ₹500 one-time | Ten profile opens and thirty days of full access |
| Monthly access | ₹200 per month | Keeps the account open. No new profile opens |
| Extra profile open | ₹50 each | One more profile. Does not extend the access window |
| ID Verified badge | ₹100 one-time | Optional government-ID verification |
| Audio or video call | ₹5 per minute | Charged from an in-app wallet |
Contacts you have unlocked stay unlocked, including after the access window closes. The registration fee is refundable within seven days if you have not opened any profile — the exact terms are in clause 7 of the Terms of Use.
The costs that are easy to miss
- Auto-renewal. Check whether the plan renews by default and whether you can stop it yourself.
- Contact limits that reset monthly rather than accruing — unused contacts often expire.
- Photo or horoscope visibility gated behind a higher tier than the one you bought.
- Per-minute call charges deducted from a wallet you topped up separately.
- Profile "highlighting" and "spotlight" placements, sold after you have already paid.
- GST. Some sites quote pre-tax; the number you pay is then 18% higher.
The GST point is worth a moment. Online matrimonial services are taxable at 18% in India, so a plan advertised at ₹1,000 "plus taxes" costs ₹1,180. A plan advertised at ₹1,000 inclusive costs ₹1,000. Comparing the two as if they were the same number is a mistake worth about a fifth of the price.
Spending less without getting less
- Complete the free profile properly first. A thin profile gets fewer replies, which makes every paid contact worth less.
- Run your real filters before paying, and count the matches. If there are eleven, a plan with fifty contacts is not the right plan.
- Start on the smallest paid step that unlocks contact, and buy more only when you have used what you have.
- Verify your phone, and add ID verification if it is cheap. Verified profiles get replies; unanswered messages are the most expensive thing on any of these sites.
- Do not pay for a longer window than your search will realistically use in one stretch.
