A WhatsApp wedding invitation should carry four things and nothing else: who is getting married, when, where, and the link. Put the names and the date in the first two lines, because that is all that shows in the chat list preview. The examples below are grouped by who you are sending them to — the message to your manager is not the message to your cousin.
What a WhatsApp invitation needs
- Names and date in the first two lines — the preview truncates fast.
- The occasion, named properly: muhurtham, nikah, nuptial mass, reception.
- The link, on its own line so it is tappable and generates a preview card.
- One line asking for an RSVP, with the deadline if there is one.

Mistakes worth avoiding
- Sending to a group when the invitation is individual. People notice, and it reads as an afterthought.
- Burying the date below four lines of preamble — the preview cuts it off.
- Sending only an image. No directions, no RSVP, no updating it later.
- Forgetting to say which functions a particular guest is invited to.
- No time zone for guests abroad. Write "10:30 a.m. IST".
- A link nobody tested on a phone. Open your own invitation on mobile data before you send it to 400 people.
